Last week I toured the community of Bald Rock. I've been there at least 10 times already looking at the property and various lots for my clients. This time I was there to explore with my friend Mat and take some pictures. We set off in the mule with my Canon Digital SLR in search of shots of the awesome fall leaves. There's a brief period of time to get the best shots when the leaves change and this was it! This months best view lot D-23 goes to The Divide at Bald Rock. The lot is 3.3 acres and offers fantastic long range mountain views. Listed for 369K it is one of the best values in this established conservation mountain community. The Divide at Bald Rock community boarders Panthertown Valley. Panthertown Valley is located in the Nantahala National Forest nearest to the town of Cashiers, North Carolina.

The Divide’s 244 pristine acres of mountaintop forest, glades, lush foliage, streams, cascading waterfalls, and magnificent mountain panoramas of sheer rock cliffs and sylvan valleys border the U.S. Forest Service’s 6,300-acre Panthertown Valley Preserve – which assures privacy so critical to a mountain sanctuary.

The valley is unusual topographically as it lies at roughly 4000 feet of elevation, is broad and relatively flat. The sandy bottom is interrupted by large granite bolders both within it and on it's borders. These rise 200 - 300 feet and host several climbable cliff faces. The most notable of these is Big Green Mountain at the south end of the valley.
